A Mother’s Planning Center
It’s always amazing and definitely scary how quickly a space can get out of control. Especially when it’s a space that multiple people share and has multiple purposes. This space is exactly that, and it’s my recent ReOrg Project completed. I’m loving the way this mother’s planning center is transformed. It was once an eyesore & added stress to this busy family of 5’s life, but now it’s a serene and calming place to get things done.

A Mother’s Planning Center, disorganized
First of all, with 3 kids ranging from elementary school to middle school, there is bound to be multiple school projects and hobbies going on at any given time. Add in 2 parents that not only work themselves, but are highly involved in their childrens’ schools & activities, and well, you get a lot of balls in the air to juggle! Consequently, the planning center becomes a catch all with no rhyme or reason. Thankfully a major purging session starts things off with a bang. Follow that up with some organizing tools & this space has been transformed. Hence it’s once again being utilized to it’s fullest potential. Win/Win 💯
Time to Roll Up My Sleeves
Not to sound like a broken record, but its crucial to remove everything from the space. Not only does it give you a chance to also clean, but it forces you to touch every single item in it. When you physically touch something, it triggers your brain to evaluate it’s worth. If you have to think about the item for more than 5 seconds, you don’t need it. Trust your initial reaction as it’s almost always the right & the truest one.

All cleaned up and clean out!
Sorting through everything also gives you a chance to see if you have any duplicates as well as get rid of boxes. I am a firm believer in emptying items from their boxes, if at all possible into organized trays & bins. This practice allows you to actually see everything that you own. When you create a welcoming space that is pleasing to the eye, you are more likely to utilize not only the space, but the items contained within it.
A Place for Everything
The transformation of this Mother’s Planning Center is truly amazing. I am so proud of my client for rolling up her sleeves and purging after our consult. It enabled me to really get to work on creating a space for her to enjoy her journey. Her sons have access to the tools they need to get their school work done. Her daughter’s craft supplies are all contained in 1 easy to use system, instead of spread out all over. Finally, my client and her husband can find office supplies in less than a minute. Bonus is they now have a chair to sit at, enabling them to effectively manage their household’s busyness in one workable space.

Drawer organizers make all the difference!

Baskets, portable file folders, and labels keep things neat and tidy!
Most noteworthy, with a cleaned up desktop there is no need to move items from this space to get things done. The drawers all have organizers, now containing multiple tools at the ready. The cabinets have been reworked to contain file folders and bins. Now the overflow and hardly used items are contained smartly. The natural light from the window that is no longer blocked breathes new life and energy into the hub of this house. I can’t wait for them to enjoy this transformed space!
